The Lancaster Postal Service began operating on the 17th September 1456. The operations were patterned after a similar system which originated in Wiltshire, overseen by Sindaia, which later became the Great British Postal Service (GBPS).

The system is county wide with a Post Master/Mistress in each town who oversees the receipt and distribution of letters and parcels to their townsfolk in their local Post Offices. Similar systems are being started in other counties.
